Kindergarten Special Education Program

Our Kindergarten special education program is a split-day self-contained and ICT program.  There is a 2-hour block where the students have their ELA goals addressed in a small group, self-contained setting (15:1).  The children then get included in their mainstream class for lunch and recess.  Their afternoon is entirely in the mainstream classroom, taught using an ICT model (integrated co-teaching).  At this time, they have a general education teacher alongside their special education teacher for the remainder of their academic day.

Our curriculum is currently the same curriculum used in all Kindergarten classrooms.  ELA is taught using ARC Core.  Math is being taught using the Reveal Math program and Science 21 is being used for their science standards.

Special education teachers create and implement behavior and classroom management plans based on their students' individual needs.
